Abnormal Course Conditions, as defined by the USGA, exist in bunkers when there is temporary water, defined ground under repair, animal holes, and immovable obstructions (such as sprinkler heads). When Abnormal Course Conditions exist, proceed under USGA Rule 16.1(c). The Tournament Committee adopted a rule on 7/20/21 that Abnormal Course Conditions exist in all bunkers. The Tournament Committee has reviewed and amended this adopted rule. Effective January 1, 2024, the Tournament Committee has adopted a rule expanding the USGA's definition of Abnormal Course Conditions to include bunkers not raked, footprints, ruts created by water runoff or similar conditions. A ball that comes to rest against a lip, is plugged or buried is not an Abnormal Course Condition. In these situations, confirmation must be obtained from all Members in the group that one of these expanded Abnormal Course Conditions exist. Once the Abnormal Course Condition is confirmed, the Member can pick up their ball, rake the bunker, and place the ball in the same spot it came to rest.

Just a reminder that checking in for a tournament must be performed no later than 30 minutes before the shotgun start. If the shotgun start is at 8:30 am, the latest a Member can check in is 8:00 am. This will give the Tournament Chairman, Doug Owens, time to finalize the registered players, pairings, holes assignments, and any changes that need to be made. Doug has the most difficult job in our Club and he does it out of the kindness of his heart. Please show up early to check in to make his job a little bit easier.
